On Thursday 25th July 2019, we held the inaugural internal awards event for our senior living division. The evening included Employee of the Year and Long Service awards.
Following feedback from our Senior Living staff network in 2018, the most popular choice was to introduce recognition awards. So that’s just what we did! Throughout the past year, we have been running an employee of the quarter recognition initiative at each of the 11 schemes where staff, residents and visitors can vote for someone they believe is going above and beyond their role. Each quarter, the staff member with the most amount of votes won a certificate and a £50 voucher from a list of options.
At the end of Year 1, each scheme had their four employee of the quarter winners, so each manager then nominated their overall scheme employee of the year with an explanation as to why they deserved this honour. Then it was the job of the senior management team to discuss each nominee and decide the winner of the coveted prize of Senior Living’s Employee of the Year!
Each scheme’s Employee of the Year winner received a £200 voucher and a gold medal.
Then came the announcement of the overall Senior Living Employee of the Year 2019.
The winner was……..Hayley Warner from Rosebank Park in Essex!
Some of the reasons why Hayley was chosen were:
“Hayley is always smiling and has an infectious laugh. She has a way of cheering people up and our customers all think very highly of her.”
“Hayley always offers to help out her colleagues and is a real team player.”
“She blends professionalism with compassion and empathy perfectly, whether she is speaking with customers, their friends and families or other members of staff.”
“Hayley supports the induction of new staff, and when they are shadowing with her, has a very common sense approach to explaining things to them and making them feel welcome.”
Hayley won a trophy and a £400 voucher of her choice.
Also at the event, we honoured those who had been working with One Housing for longer than three years. In such a transient industry, we wanted to recognise those who had shown loyalty and commitment to working for One Housing. All those who had worked with us for three years of more received a pin badge showing the number of years worked. Those who had reached 5-9 years’ service received £100 voucher, and those who had reached 10-14 years’ service.
We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all our 2019 award winners, and we look forward to a bigger and better event next year.
