A resident at Baycroft Flitwick care home this week enjoyed a fun fair themed birthday surprise.
Vera Thurston, who turned 94 on Monday 22nd February, used to own the local fun fair with her late husband, so the home’s activity coordinators organised the fair themed party complete with coconut shy, tin can alley, hoopla and traditional treats such as candy floss, toffee apples, mini doughnuts and popcorn!
They had also collected several old family pictures of when Vera was growing up which she spent a lot of time looking at and reminiscing about the good old days.
Whilst the rest of the country were waiting for Boris to announce the end of lockdown plan, the residents at Baycroft were having a blast at their very own Flitwick fair!
Paul Buckle, interim General Manager, said:
“It was such a lovely afternoon and a great excuse to get all the residents together for a celebration, adhering to all the necessary Covid-19 precautions of course! Obviously, spirits have been fairly low within the Home with families not being allowed to visit, however with a birthday party and the news that we will be able to accept one visit per resident soon, the mood in the Home has definitely lifted!”
